Some psycho chick and her boyfriend to film their first murder, but things don’t go as they planned.  There’s trouble in paradise…or hell…

The fact that found footage films are still being released after the embarrassing failure that is Blair Witch (2016) is not the scariest thing about C-K-R.  No, not by a long shot.  The most terrifying thing about this movie is that within the first 10 to 20 seconds you are made painfully aware that you will be spending the entire duration of the film with the most fucking annoying lead character that I have seen in horror in a long time.

C-K-R and its dialogue show an embarrassing lack of knowledge in horror movie history.  They were even stupid enough put this fuck up in the trailer.  The very same annoying lead utters the line: “It’s like prom night for murder…”  Are…You…Fucking…Kidding…Me?!!!  If it’s meant to be a joke, it’s a BAD one.  A movie killer with no real concept of classic horror movie killers?  I don’t think so.  Fuck you.

I don’t know about you but I’m way beyond the point of getting fucking sick of the fact that any dumb fuck can just pick up a camera, run around with their retard friends screaming and crying with absolutely no talent or skill whatsoever, before chopping it together and calling it a horror movie.

The whole movie is just so irritating to watch.  The whiny conversations are unbearable.  This might as well be Lord of the Rings because why the dude would go within 500 feet of that chick defies all believability.  Try it if you must, but I can guarantee you’ll be spending every 5 seconds thinking to yourself: Why the fuck am I still watching this?

No point on commenting on the camerawork.  It’s found footage, so you know it’s shit!

LAST WORDS
Thanks to Capture Kill Release I will now hate found footage movies until the next decent one emerges.  Sigh… And those are few and far between.  Few and far between…

TV MONTH: Scream Season 2 - Rating: * * * * (THERE WILL BE SPOILERS)

It's TV Month here at Snakebite Reviews and we will be looking at some TV shows new and old and seeing how they hold up. We start with a recent show which I caught up with this weekend in the form of Scream: The TV Series which is over on Netflix in the UK. Season One was brilliant but I bypassed Season 2 early last year for some reason after a few episodes but going back into this how did it go? I actually ended up really enjoying it this time round. There may be  SPOILERS ahead.....you have been warned.

Season 1 of Scream revealed that the killer was non other than Journalist Piper Shaw, the revealed half-sister of main girl Emma, the daughter of local legend Brandon James. After an epic show down Emma and here friend Audrey kill Piper, but not before Piper reveals she has another big surprise for the Lakewood teens. The season ends with the big reveal (so many reveals!) that Audrey is the one who brought Piper to Lakewood and is hr accomplice or is she?

As the second season ticks along we find out alot more behind the story of Piper and Audrey and the reasons behind how they meet and why. As a second killer tries the frame her, Audrey races to cover up her connection to last seasons villain. So is Audrey isn't the killer who is the crazy son of a bitch who is slicing up the remaining Lakewood survivors? well you will have to wait and find out as i'm not going to spoil the final moments of the season, HOWEVER this seasons killer is much more brutal than season one, with kills and scenarios which are pretty violent for an MTV show. The final showdown is both unexpected and predictable but it doesn't disappoint and is a true Scream style moment.

While the start of Season 2 did drag the final half of the season was a real who done it. There are several suspects who could be Piper's accomplice and with the reveal in the finale and a big tease in the extended Halloween special that followed Season 3 looks like it will be VERY interesting. There is alot of character building in this season with Audrey taking centre stage in many of the episodes, but the stand out character has to be Noah, the shows version of fan favorite Randy as the horror expect and the new host of pipers old podcast. As Noah begins to unravel the truth about Piper and the connection to his best friend Audrey his character grows. He is torn between thinking his friend is and killer and trying to find an explanation. He also FINALLY gets a decent love interest in the form of Zoe, and we see his life take a drastic change. I'm still not 100% behind the Emma character, shes is in no way close the being a Sidney Prescott however she is a very typical teen drama kind of choice so in the modern era of TV she is probably a favorite among the younger viewers.

The acting is your usual teen show kind of fair with a good story and a fair bit of gore to top it all off. As a HUGE fan of the films i'm really enjoying this show. It has all the aspects of the films, and there are a few moments that feel like decent homages to some scenes in Scream 2, but I know this show will divide many. Personally I think you show give it a shot and let us know what you think!

THE STORY
Rich and condescending Veronica (Sandra Oh) and old buddy Ashley, a struggling painter (Anne Heche) become embroiled in a vicious rivalry with devastating consequences for both sides.  And so the tables keep on turning.

Apart from her one supporting lesbian turn in 2014’s Tammy, Sandra Oh is a wonderfully gifted actress.  It was a blessing when she left Shonda Rhimes’ seemingly endless medi-drama, Grey’s Anatomy.  The show hogged her talents for 10 years and now that she is free from the trying work schedules or serial television, she now has time to work on gems such as this.

With all its underlying themes, the movie implores you to choose a side in this petty battle.  But like the war that will never end, it seems redundant.  It’s also pointless considering that Veronica’s journey has the classic formula of the protagonist.  She is the first of the two to get Kill Bill-ed.  She is the first to suffer great loss.  Her loss is also greater.  She learns.  She grows.  Even though she doesn’t grow out of the eternal struggle with her rival, she outgrows the power, status and money she once had.

By the time that literally the same shit happens to Ashley, we arrive at a point in the movie that is just one continuous punch-line, no pun intended, during which she makes no effort to redeem herself.  Every kind word or apology she makes is a teeth-grinding lie.  Plus, it’s also difficult to sympathise with someone who is quite the raging see-you-next-Tuesday to begin with.  A trait that only worsens in her rise to wealth, just as the loss of wealth humbles her adversary.

Despite all the lampooning that goes on, most of it is too unspecific.  There’s no commitment.  I’d call it weak, but I’ve seen Summer of Blood and the hilarity of director Tukel’s humour lies in its apathy as well as its lethargic delivery.  You need to hit hard topics such as these with a wrecking ball, not a feather duster.

LAST WORDS
I say ditch the bullshit themes and enjoy the talent that’s onscreen.  The fight scenes are hardly Uma Thurman versus Vivica A. Fox or Darryl Hannah, but they are just as interesting and thankfully lacking any creepy Tarantino foot fetishes.
