Wow what a opening issue! as a horror this issue has really wet my appetite for what is to come. Jordie Bellaire has created a horrifying and brutal story here, bringing a very bloody take on the witchcraft sub-genre that we haven't seen in horror for a very long time, and along with Vanesa R. Del Rey we are treated to a beautifully grim visual spectacular, and this is a huge compliment. I loved the art work on this graphic novel, the dark twisted imagery hits you in every frame and leaves you wanting to read on, but damn it you have to wait till next month. I am a newbie to graphic novels really so for this to make me want to come back for more is always a great sign.
I love the way the story starts with such drama. What happened before for this small town to be under siege in this way? what do these witches want? all great questions I hope we will get answered in the upcoming issues.
As reported a few days back, Redlands #1 was rushed to re-print after so much interested, and I can see why. I am chomping at the bit the get my hands on the second issue and I will be hunting out the previous works of both these talented ladies.
